- Startup: A patchwork of tools, chosen one problem at a time
- Growing: Core systems in place, limited integration between them
- Scaling: Systems integrated for the highest-friction workflows
- Optimizing: A deliberate roadmap sequences technology investment
- Transforming: Technology is a source of competitive advantage, not just support
Data
- Startup: Data lives in spreadsheets and individual inboxes
- Growing: Data lives in systems, but reporting requires manual assembly
- Scaling: Core reporting is automated and trusted
- Optimizing: Data actively informs decisions, not just historical reporting
- Transforming: Data and AI actively shape strategy and operations
Culture & Leadership
- Startup: Technology decisions are reactive, made under pressure
- Growing: Some leaders champion better systems, without full buy-in
- Scaling: Leadership is aligned on the value of investing in systems
- Optimizing: The organization budgets and plans for ongoing improvement
- Transforming: Digital capability is part of how the organization defines itself
